What type of product is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a revolutionary skin treatment that enables your natural collagen and also your elastin; causing your skin to renew successfully, from within.

Profhilo is different to other injectable products; is not a dermal filler, and it has been specifically engineered for skin bio-remodelling. It is biocompatible as a result of the pure grade hyaluronic acid produced by bio-fermentation.

In large part due to the high purity (in addition to the absence of additives), Profhilo is considered to be a safer treatment than its counterparts, with reduced side effects.

Is there any downtime with Profhilo?

There is minimal downtime for Profhilo, so you ought to be able to resolve your normal activities right away. Whilst the treatment is taking place, you will likely notice each insertion, but they will quickly diffuse and disappear.

After Profhilo, we recommend that you refrain from physical and sports activities for around 24 hours. We would also recommend you avoid going to a sauna or having a steam bath for a period of days and avoid having further cosmetic treatments for 48 hours unless guided by your treating practitioner.

How many Profhilo treatments do I need?

We typically recommend 2 Profhilo sessions, 1 month apart, which help to achieve optimum results. In some cases, where there is problematic skin, you may require a 3rd treatment, 2 months after your second treatment. Your practitioner will discuss this with you at your consultation.

To maintain your results, we recommend 1 treatment every 6 months.

How can I ensure I get the best results from Profhilo?

There are some tips that ought to help you get the optimum results from your Profhilo treatment:

Avoid alcohol 24 hours before your treatment
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti inflammatory medication to reduce the risk of bruising

Will I have lumps where Profhilo has been injected?

Following your Profhilo treatment, there is a chance that some localised lumps may appear, around the injection site. We find that these lumps will subside, typically 4-6 hours after the treatment, but do not be alarmed if they last up to 24 hours. Many patients do not experience lumps and swelling, and it does depend on each individual.

No. While both Profhilo and dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA), they are formulated very differently. Fillers are designed to restore or add volume in specific areas, whereas Profhilo spreads evenly through the skin to deeply hydrate and stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving overall skin quality rather than altering facial structure.

Can Profhilo be used under the eyes or in the forehead?

Profhilo is not injected directly into the under-eye area or forehead. That said, its ability to diffuse through surrounding tissue often leads to indirect improvements in these regions. For more targeted treatment of delicate areas such as the under-eye, your practitioner may recommend alternatives such as polynucleotides.

How long does Profhilo last?

Results from Profhilo typically last around six months, though this can vary depending on factors such as age, skin quality, and lifestyle. Many patients choose to maintain their results with regular top-up treatments twice a year.
