BBL laser removes pigment by damaging it through light treatment. This damage is repaired by the body, and old pigmentation is broken down. BroadBand™ light, a form of IPL (intense pulsed light) device, distinguishes itself from traditional lasers: lasers employ a narrowly focused wavelength on the light spectrum, whereas BBL utilises a broad spectrum of light, enabling numerous wavelengths to penetrate the skin simultaneously.
Not all IPL devices are identical; BBL’s advancements elevate this treatment to a whole new standard, promoting a skin healing response for the production of collagen and elastin, while also enhancing various visible signs of ageing.
Moxi uses fractionated laser energy to create micro-coagulation zones, which the body then repairs by replacing damaged cells with fresh ones. The Moxi™ procedure rejuvenates your skin by improving tonal and textural changes without a lot of downtime.
BBL uses the world’s most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) making it the fastest way to treat pigment, sun damage and troublesome age spots on any area of the body.

Sciton’s BBL Hero treatment employs intense pulsed light to target skin pigmentation. Specialised light flashes are quickly moved across the treatment area, darkening the pigment initially. Over the next few days, your body’s natural healing process eliminates pigmented cells, replacing them with fresh, undamaged cells.
Each light flash produces a warm sensation. Most patients find it easy to tolerate and do not require any anaesthetic numbing cream. If you are having combined treatments, once the BBL treatment is complete, your specialist will apply a numbing cream before beginning the Moxi™ treatment.
Results may vary, but most patients experience visible improvements within 2 – 4 weeks, depending on the individual, treated area, and settings used. Results last 4 – 6 weeks after the treatment.
It is crucial to wear physical barrier sunscreen and clothing, while also limiting sun exposure after the treatment. You may also wear makeup 24 hours after the treatment.
You will be red and hot post treatment, and we recommend you book your treatment on a day when you can go home and relax afterwards. Redness and heat will usually subside within 24 – 48 hours. Tiny raised brown dots (MENDS) will begin to surface and your skin will feel tight and rough to touch. These dots will shed and new skin will emerge. You will be glowing by day 14 and will continue to see results 4 – 6 weeks after the treatment.
You should refrain from heavy exercise, steam rooms or saunas, and baths for 48 hours post treatment to avoid infection. You will need to stay out of the sun for at least 14 days and wear SPF every day while you are healing. Makeup can be applied 24 hours post treatment.
The level of correction you desire will depend on your treatment goals. Typically, patients receive 3-4 corrective Moxi treatments and 1-2 BBL treatments, followed by regular maintenance treatments. Your practitioner can advise you on the best course of treatment based on your goals.
