What should I avoid before Lip Fillers?

Your safety means everything at Omniya Clinic. During your consultation, we’ll prepare you with an extensive guide for your natural lip filler treatment. To ensure your treatment goes smoothly, avoid:

  • Ibuprofen and aspirin for one week;
  • Supplements such as Vitamin E, Fish Oil and Ginger for one week;
  • Topical products, including Retin-A, Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid or other anti-ageing cosmetics two days before;
  • Waxing, tweezing, bleaching or using hair removal cream two days prior;
  • Alcohol and caffeine 24 hours earlier.

Do Lip Fillers hurt?

Lip Fillers are a non-surgical treatment, meaning there is minimal pain involved. You may experience slight discomfort when our practitioner injects the needle into your skin. We offer local anaesthetic, known as lidocaine, to numb the area and reduce pain during treatment.

Can you get Lip Fillers while pregnant?

There is no extensive research into whether dermal fillers cause potential side effects for women during pregnancy. However, for botox injections, the NHS recommend avoiding them as they may interfere with blood flow and cause edema (swelling). As such, approach Lip Fillers cautiously and refrain from getting them until post-pregnancy.

What can’t I do after Lip Fillers?

Now you’ve plumped your thin lips, it’s time for aftercare. Side effects such as bruising and swelling are common, but to ensure a speedy recovery and avoid infection, you should avoid:

  • Strenuous exercise for one to two days;
  • Drinking alcohol or smoking straight after treatment;
  • Getting other cosmetic procedures, including facials, chemical peels or laser treatment for two weeks;
  • High-temperature environments such as saunas or steam rooms for two days;
  • High sodium (salty) foods;
  • Make-up, such as lipstick, for up to 24 hours;
  • Applying pressure to your lips for up to 24 hours (e.g., massaging);
  • Flying for up to a week.

Following our aftercare tips will drastically reduce bruising and swelling. If in doubt, speak to our expert practitioners, who are happy to advise.

How long does swelling last?

Lip swelling is most prominent after treatment and will reduce over two to three days. If swelling is still present after this, it will go away within two weeks.

How long do Lip Fillers last?

Lip Filler results last up to 6 to 9 months, depending on the amount of filler used. The results are immediate, so your lips will stay shapely for longer!

Does Lip Filler dissolve?

At Omniya, our hyaluronic acid fillers are non-permanent, which will naturally break down over time. We hold an excellent reputation for creating natural-looking lips, helping you achieve your desired results without using too much filler.

We use hyaluronidase, a naturally occurring enzyme, to dissolve Lip Filler should clients want to revert their results.
