Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your PRP treatment. Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for the following PRP treatments:
- PRP for Skin
- PRP for Hair Restoration
- PRP with Microneedling
Please follow these guidelines carefully to ensure a safe, effective treatment and optimal results.

Upon making an appointment, an account will be created for you. Please select 'Yes, I've already got a profile!' and then 'recover password' and you will receive an email to set a new password - please check your Spam/Junk folder.
Contraindications
Applies to all PRP Treatments
PRP treatments are not suitable if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have an active infection (e.g., cold, flu) or acute illness.
- Have blood disorders (e.g., low platelet count, clotting issues) or are on anticoagulant therapy.
- Have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing.
- Have been on isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months.
- Have autoimmune conditions or are immunosuppressed.
- Have active skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, severe acne) in the treatment area.
- Have warts or bacterial/fungal infections in the treatment area.
- Have had chemical peels, laser treatments, or advanced skin therapies within the past 2 weeks.
- Have a history of cancer, particularly blood-related cancers.

Pre-Care Instructions
Applies to all PRP Treatments
Please:
Medications and Supplements:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 5-7 days prior to treatment:
- Aspirin, NSAIDs (e.g., Ibuprofen, Naproxen), Fish Oil, Garlic, Gingko Biloba, and Vitamin E.
- If you are on prescribed medications, consult your GP before stopping.
Health and Infection:
- If your body is actively fighting an infection (e.g., cold, flu, illness), treatment cannot proceed. Contact us to reschedule.
Alcohol and Caffeine:
- Avoid alcohol for 48 hours before treatment.
- Limit caffeine on the day of your appointment to support optimal blood circulation.
Hydration:
- Drink at least 2 litres of water daily for 48 hours prior to treatment. Hydration improves plasma quality.
Skincare:
- Discontinue topical retinoids (retinol/tretinoin) and active skincare (e.g., AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants) for 1 week before treatment.
- Avoid facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks prior.
Sun and Tanning:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and fake tan for 2 weeks before treatment. Treatment cannot proceed on sunburned or fake-tanned skin.
Cold Sores:
- If you are prone to cold sores, start an antiviral medication the day before treatment as a precaution.
Day of Treatment:
- Wash the treatment area and avoid makeup, lotions, gels, oils, or sprays.
- Eat a light meal before your appointment to avoid lightheadedness.
- Arrive well-hydrated.
PRP Hair Restoration Additional Pre-Care Instructions
- Wash your hair with a mild shampoo the night before or morning of treatment.
- Avoid applying hair products (e.g., gels, sprays, oils) on the day of treatment.
- Avoid colouring, perming, or chemically treating your hair for 7 days prior.
Post-Care Instructions
Applies to all PRP Treatments
General Care:
- Avoid touching the treated area unnecessarily for 24 hours.
- Gently cleanse the area with lukewarm water and a mild, non-active cleanser after 12 hours.
- Pat dry with clean hands—avoid rubbing or scrubbing the skin.
Skincare:
- Avoid makeup, retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants, and active products for 5-7 days post-treatment.
- Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser as needed.
- Allow flaking skin to shed naturally—do not pick at scabs or peeling areas.
Sun Protection:
- Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and reapply as needed.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, and sunbeds for 4 weeks post-treatment.
Heat and Sweat:
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
- Excessive sweating can irritate the treatment area.
Alcohol and Hydration:
- Avoid alcohol for 48 hours post-treatment.
- Stay well-hydrated to support healing and results.
Healing Expectations:
- Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or pinpoint bleeding are normal and resolve within 1-3 days.
- Results develop gradually, typically improving after 4-6 weeks.
PRP Hair Restoration-Specific Instructions
- Avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours post-treatment.
- Use a mild, gentle shampoo when resuming hair washing. Avoid medicated or harsh products for 3-4 days.
- Avoid hair styling products (e.g., sprays, gels, oils) for 48 hours post-treatment.
- Do not pick at any scabs or flakes that may form.
- Wear a hat if exposed to sunlight for the first 4 weeks.
Cancellations
If you need to rearrange or cancel your appointment for any reason, we operate with a 48 hour cancellation policy, therefore we kindly ask you to inform us within 2 working days if you are unable to attend your appointment.
