Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your OmniDerm Facial treatment. Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for your treatment. If you have any questions, please contact our reception team who will be happy to assist you.
Medical History
If it is your first time seeing an aesthetician at Omniya Clinic please click here to fill out your Medical History Form in advance of your appointment.

Upon making an appointment, an account will be created for you. Please select 'Yes, I've already got a profile!' and then 'recover password' and you will receive an email to set a new password - please check your Spam/Junk folder.
Please note: If there are any medical changes or if you have been taking any new medication since the last time you visited us, please inform us before you attend the clinic to ensure you are still suitable to have the treatment.
Contraindications
This treatment is contraindicated if you have or have had:
- Skin disease or infection, including active herpes or warts
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Radiation or chemotherapy
- Auto-immune disease
- Cystic acne
- History of keloids
- Surgery or ablative lasers in the last 6 months
- Use of Isotretinoin in the last 6 months
- Scar tissue (6 months minor operation, 2 years major operation)
- Bruising/Swelling
- Undiagnosed lumps and bumps
- Laser Resurfacing (allow 8 weeks)
- Medium or deep skin peels (allow 8 weeks)
- Laser hair removal (wait 1 week)
- Oral Blood Thinners (stop 7-10 days prior)
- Contagious diseases (Impetigo, Scabies, Chicken Pox, Mumps)
- Hypersensitive Skin
- Loss of Skin Sensation
- Irritated Skin/Sunburn/Broken Skin
- Skin Cancer/Chemotherapy
- History of cancer – must be in remission for 12 months and a doctor’s letter must be presented
- Vascular Lesions/Rosacea
- History of Herpes Simplex – use of prophylactic anti-viral medication prior to treatment can be useful
- Photosensitising medication (if your treatment includes LED, it contraindicates your for it)
Pre Treatment Advice
Please:
- Allow 1 week between treatment and hair removal
- Avoid using retinols for 3-5 days prior to the treatment
- Two days prior to treatment, discontinue using all AHA products, salicylic acid products
- Retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac) and other prescription grade topicals such as benzoyl peroxide should be stopped one week prior to the treatment
- The following procedures should not be performed for a minimum of 7 days before microdermabrasion:
- Waxing
- Tweezing
- Electrolysis
- Laser treatments (any kind)
- Chemical peels (any kind)
Post Treatment Instructions
- Experiencing initial dryness, flaking, and a feeling of a mild sunburn is a normal result of the procedure.
- Avoid direct sunlight, sun beds, swimming pools, excessive sweating and heat treatments e.g sauna, steam rooms and hot showers/baths for the next 48hours.
- Avoid aggressive exfoliation; products containing exfoliating acids or retinol should be avoided in the treatment area 48-72 hours post treatment
- Avoid the use of prescription retinoids (e.g. tretinoin) 1 week pre- and post-treatment.
- Avoid waxing or using other hair removal methods for 5-7 days
- Makeup can be applied after 12 hours
- No picking or touching after the treatment.
- Drink plenty of water.
Cancellations
If you need to rearrange or cancel your appointment for any reason, we operate with a 48 hour cancellation policy, therefore we kindly ask you to inform us within 2 working days if you are unable to attend your appointment.
