Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your Obagi Blue Peel Radiance treatment. Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for your treatment. If you have any questions, please contact our reception team who will be happy to assist you.
Medical History

Upon making an appointment, an account will be created for you. Please select 'Yes, I've already got a profile!' and then 'recover password' and you will receive an email to set a new password - please check your Spam/Junk folder.
Please note: If there are any medical changes or if you have been taking any new medication since the last time you visited us, please inform us before you attend the clinic to ensure you are still suitable to have the treatment.
Contraindications
This treatment may not be suitable if you are or have:
- Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated
- Wounded, sunburnt or excessively sensitive skin within the application area
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea within the peel application area
- Accutane use within 12 months prior to the peel application
- History of radiation therapy in the application area
- Allergies to salicylates
- History of cancer – must be in remission for 12 months and have a doctor’s note
Pre Treatment Instructions
Please:
- Avoid use of the following products and procedures on the area to be treated for 5-7 days prior to the peel
- Laser hair removal
- Waxing
- Depilatory creams
- Electrolisys
- Avoid using the following products 3 days prior to the peel
- Topical retinoids and tretinoin (such as Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Refissa)
- Other topical acids or exfoliants that may be drying or irritating to the skin - AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating masks, retinols, hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide acne products
- Caution - patients who have recently had any medical aesthetic facial treatments such as laser treatment, microdermabrasion, should wait to have any acid-based peel until all lingering skin sensitivity has subsided
- Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds for 2 weeks prior to your treatment; no tanning lotions should be applied for a minimum of one week before the treatment
Post Treatment Instructions
- Must use SPF for at least a week after the peel; a sun protection product with an SPF of at least 30 should be worn at all times
- Dryness and redness may occur for 1-2 days; mild peeling should start to occur within 48hrs and can last 2-5 days. Not to use any physical exfoliation, but treat the skin very gently
- A mild moisturizer such as Clenziderm or Obagi Hydrate Facial Moisturizer may and should be used to minimise dryness and redness
- Avoid products containing fragrance for 3-5 days post peel
- Avoid direct sun exposure and use of all exfoliating agents such as AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, retinols and exfoliating scrubs for 5-7 days post peel. A normal regimen can be resumed 7 days post peel
Cancellations
If you need to rearrange or cancel your appointment for any reason, we operate with a 48 hour cancellation policy, therefore we kindly ask you to inform us within 2 working days if you are unable to attend your appointment.
