Introduction
Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your Mesotherapy treatment (for the hair). Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for your treatment. If you have any questions, please contact our reception team who will be happy to assist you.
Medical History
You will receive a medical history form by email ahead of your appointment. If you’re not able to complete it beforehand, we kindly ask that you arrive about 10 minutes early to fill it in at the clinic.
If there have been any changes to your health, or you’ve started any new medication since your last visit, please let us know before your appointment so we can make sure your treatment is still right for you.
Contraindications
This treatment is contraindicated if you are or have:
- Any open skin wounds, including broken skin, scabs, wounds, bleeding skin and blisters
- Rashes, psoriasis, eczema, fungal infections
- Contagious skin conditions
- Raised moles, warts or moles that have changed shape or colour and unidentified skin growths
- Bruised skin
- Skin cancer
- Keloid scars are a strict contraindication.
- Anti-coagulant medications as these prevent the blood from clotting.
- Any medications that cause photosensitivity
- Areas, where topical medication is being applied as the product can be forced trans-dermally and may cause unwanted side effects.
- Pregnancy is a contraindication as it may stimulate hyperpigmentation.
- Haemophilia
- Diabetes if not controlled, and the client’s A1C test is over 8. Clients must ensure proper post-treatment care to avoid infection.
Pre Treatment Advice
Please:
- To prevent the risks of bruising the skin during treatment, clients should avoid:
- Alcohol consumption 24 hours before treatment, after and on the day of the treatment
- Taking Aspirin unless medically prescribed. Increased bleeding risk must be accepted by the patient
- Avoid the use of vitamin E and products containing gingko extracts or garlic tablets 7-10 days prior to the appointment.
- Allow 2 weeks since any other scalp treatments
Post Treatment Expectations & Possible Side Effects
- Bruise - Heals over time, use arnica gel to speed up healing
- Redness - Normal inflammatory response; resolves within several hours
- Swelling - Normal inflammatory response; resolves within 7-28 days
- There may be itching, stinging, redness, or warmth in the treatment area post-treatment. This will last between a few hours to a couple of days.
- The skin may feel tender to touch.
- In rare cases, nodules, necrosis, abscesses, hematomas, or infection may occur. If you experience anything that concerns you, please call the clinic and seek medical attention immediately.
Post Treatment Possible Early Complications
- Anaphylaxis
- Allergic Reaction
- Nodules (appear after 4-8 weeks) - Nodules may be felt for several weeks or months post-procedure. The area can be regularly massaged to help break down the tissue. This will usually resolve on its own over time.
- Infection
Post Treatment Instructions, Expectations & Possible Side Effects
- It is important to drink plenty of water to help the body remove excess waste. We recommend 1-2 litres per day.
- A healthy diet and light exercise should be maintained throughout the course of treatment.
- Do not wash your hair for a minimum of 24 hours, 48 if possible
- Avoid direct sun or sunbeds for 10 days, and always use SPF 30-50, reapplying throughout the day
- Avoid swimming pools, excessive sweating and heat treatments e.g sauna, steam rooms and hot showers/baths for the next 72 hours
- Do not apply any exfoliating skin products for the next 72 hours e.g exfoliating scrubs, glycolic acid or retinol. Gently exfoliate after 3-5 days
- Do not shave the hair on the treated area for the next 5-7 days
- Do not have any clinical treatments for the next 2 weeks
- No picking or touching after the treatment.
Cancellations
If you need to rearrange or cancel your appointment for any reason, we operate with a 48 hour cancellation policy, therefore we kindly ask you to inform us within 2 working days if you are unable to attend your appointment.
