Introduction
Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your IV Drip (Intravenous Drip) Therapy. Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for your treatment. If you have any questions, please contact our reception team who will be happy to assist you.
Medical History

Instructions:
Upon making an appointment, an account will be created for you. Please select 'Yes, I've already got a profile!' and then 'recover password' and you will receive an email to set a new password - please check your Spam/Junk folder.
Please note: If there are any medical changes or if you have been taking any new medication since the last time you visited us, please inform us before you attend the clinic to ensure you are still suitable to have the treatment.
Contraindications
IV Drip Therapy is not suitable for everyone. Please inform us if you have or have had any of the following:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Cancer (active or in remission without consultant approval)
- Ongoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
- Epilepsy
- Liver disease (e.g. hepatitis, cirrhosis)
- Kidney disease or impaired kidney function
- Recent vaccination (within 6 weeks)
- Ongoing infections or fever
- Substance abuse (including alcohol or recreational drugs)
- Known allergy to any component in the IV formulation (including shellfish, preservatives, or amino acids)
- Severe cardiovascular disease or cardiac failure
- History of anaphylaxis, especially to vitamin B1 (thiamine)
- G6PD deficiency (if receiving high-dose Vitamin C)
- Use of medications such as Digoxin, Methadone, or antipsychotics
- Thyroid or parathyroid dysfunction
- Bipolar disorder (certain nutrients such as glutathione, tryptophan, and phenylalanine may not be suitable)
A full consultation and screening will be conducted before your infusion.
Pre Treatment Advice
To prepare for your IV Drip Therapy, please:
- Eat a light meal and hydrate before your appointment.
- Avoid intense exercise or alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- Do not arrive fasted unless advised otherwise.
- Please let us know if you are needle-phobic or prone to fainting during injections or blood draws.
Post Treatment Instructions
Immediately After:
- You will be monitored for at least 30 minutes post-treatment before discharge.
- If you experience dizziness, nausea, or feel unwell, inform a staff member immediately.
For the Next 24–48 Hours:
- Continue to eat and drink regularly for at least 4 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid checking blood glucose levels if diabetic — Vitamin C can cause falsely elevated glucometer readings for up to 6 hours.
- Avoid alcohol, strenuous activity, and saunas for the rest of the day.
- While some of the following may be normal post IV drips, if you experience any of the following, please contact us:
- Muscle cramps
- Persistent nausea or vomiting
- Skin rash or itching
- Fainting or dizziness
- Headache or flu-like symptoms
- Tenderness, swelling, or redness at the injection site
Risks and Side Effects
While side effects are rare, please be aware of the following possibilities:
- Common: Mild bruising, pain or redness at the injection site, feeling lightheaded or faint
- Occasional: Nausea, metallic taste in the mouth (especially in smokers), fatigue, or mild flu-like symptoms
- Rare: Allergic reactions, skin rash, or temporary headaches
- Extremely rare: Anaphylaxis, phlebitis (vein inflammation), systemic infection, metabolic disturbance, haemolysis, or cardiac complications
If you have a history of allergy to thiamine (vitamin B1), please inform us before treatment.
Cancellations
If you need to rearrange or cancel your appointment for any reason, we operate with a 48 hour cancellation policy, therefore we kindly ask you to inform us within 2 working days if you are unable to attend your appointment.
