Julaine: Contraindications, Pre-Care and Post Care Instructions

10 November 2025 | Omniya Clinic

Introduction

Welcome to Omniya Clinic’s guide to your Julaine treatment. Below, you will find comprehensive contraindications, pre-care and post-care information for your treatment. If you have any questions, please contact our reception team who will be happy to assist you.

Medical History

You will receive a medical history form by email ahead of your appointment. If you’re not able to complete it beforehand, we kindly ask that you arrive about 10 minutes early to fill it in at the clinic.

If there have been any changes to your health, or you’ve started any new medication since your last visit, please let us know before your appointment so we can make sure your treatment is still right for you.

Contraindications

This treatment is contraindicated if you have or are:

  • Acute or Chronic Skin Disease: Presence of infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
  • Allergy: Known history of allergy to any of the components of the product.
  • Bleeding Disorders: Haemorrhagic disease or currently under anticoagulant treatment.
  • Scarring Susceptibility: Known history or susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
  • Immune Deficiency: Any condition leading to immune deficiency.
  • Age/Pregnancy: Under 18 years of age, pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Avoid same day laser treatments.

Pre Treatment Instructions

To help you achieve the best results and minimise any side effects, please:

  • Avoid taking NSAIDs, aspirin or supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E or ginkgo for 3-5 days before treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising. If you are prescribed any of these medications, please consult your doctor before making any changes.
  • Ensure there is no active infection or inflammation at the treatment area on the day of your appointment.
  • Arrive with clean skin - please avoid makeup, lotions or skincare products before treatment.
  • Stay well-hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment, as this supports healthy collagen production.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment.

Post Treatment Instructions & Expectations

Immediate Post-Care (First Few Days)

  • Temporary redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness can occur.
  • Minor oedema or “fullness” resolves in 2-4 days.
  • Massage: In the days following the treatment session, it is advisable to perform a light massage in circular movements with the help of your facial moisturiser.
  • Side Effects: To alleviate possible side effects such as redness, swelling, and bruising, it is advisable to apply ice packs to the injection site, avoiding direct contact.
  • Temperature & UV: Avoid exposure to sunlight and UV light until the initial swelling and redness subside. Very high or very low temperatures should also be avoided.
  • Other Treatments: To avoid an inflammatory reaction, consult your practitioner before undergoing treatments based on an active dermal response, such as laser treatment or chemical peeling, after your Julaine treatment.

Expectations

  • Results develop gradually over 4-6 months as new collagen forms.
  • Full effect usually visible 6-10 months post-treatment.
  • Duration of benefit 2-5 years (longer in non-smokers and with healthy lifestyle).
  • Initial swelling disappears within a few days - this is not the final result.
  • The treatment provides a natural, subtle volumisation, not an instant filler effect.
  • Maintenance or “top-up” may be needed after 2-5 years.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects include: Short-term pain and short-term bleeding at the site of needle penetration during injection, redness, ecchymosis, haematoma, bruising, petechia, or visible oedema at the injection site, which are usually relieved within a few days.

  • Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or discomfort at injection site.
  • Short-term fullness due to carrier water.
  • Mild itching or tightness for a few days.
  • Small palpable bumps (subcutaneous papules), often resolve spontaneously or with massage.
  • Rare unevenness or asymmetry.
