Richa Puri

Prescribing Pharmacist | Nutritional Therapist | Functional Medicine Practitioner

Richa has nearly 10 years of experience as a nutritional therapist and functional medicine practitioner, alongside 16 years of experience as a pharmacist. Her unique qualification as an independent prescribing pharmacist means she can also prescribe hormones and weight management medication as part of her service, where appropriate. In some cases, hormone prescribing may already have been initiated by Dr Roked, and Richa will continue to support this as part of a joined-up, integrative care plan.

Richa Puri at Omniya Clinic

Richa firmly believes in a root-cause, holistic approach that looks beyond symptoms to identify what may be driving imbalance or dysfunction in the body. Nutritional therapy and functional medicine focus on understanding the individual as a whole and identifying the underlying drivers of imbalance and dysfunction considering how systems such as the gut, hormones, immune function, and metabolism are interconnected. These may include digestive health, nutritional deficiencies, blood sugar dysregulation, hormone disruption, environmental exposures such as endocrine disruptors and mould, genetic predispositions, stress, and more.

Richa’s work over the last decade has centred around women’s health and fertility, though she also supports wider areas such as skin health, digestive conditions, low energy, and weight challenges. By using functional testing where appropriate, she is able to investigate deeper layers and tailor protocols to correct imbalances. Her plans typically combine personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, targeted supplementation, and stress management techniques. Where needed, she layers this with appropriate medication or hormone support.

Hormonal health underpins much of Richa’s work, and she uses body-identical and bioidentical hormone therapy where clinically relevant, to support wellbeing, symptom relief, and healthy ageing. Her integrative approach has helped hundreds of women and couples transform their health and regain a sense of balance.

Richa has extensive clinical experience and has maintained ongoing training and mentoring including at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, the Institute for Functional Medicine, with Tanya Borowski, Dr Sohère Roked, and the Marion Gluck Training Academy amongst others.

How Nutritional Therapy Supports Women’s Health

Richa works with a range of hormonal, metabolic, and digestive conditions, supporting each client through a personalised, whole-body approach.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

PCOS doesn’t present the same way in every woman. It can be driven by insulin resistance, inflammation, adrenal stress, or post-pill changes. Richa’s approach begins by identifying the specific drivers before creating a targeted plan. This may include balancing blood sugar, restoring ovulation, supporting skin and hair health, and improving energy and mood. Where appropriate, further testing can help identify issues like nutrient deficiencies, androgens, or gut microbiome imbalances.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is more than just a reproductive condition – it often involves systemic inflammation, immune dysregulation, and hormonal imbalance. Nutritional therapy can help manage pain, support oestrogen metabolism, reduce inflammation, and address digestive issues like bloating or food sensitivities. Richa may also explore microbiome diversity (both gut and vaginal), histamine intolerance, and detoxification pathways to build a truly holistic support plan.

Perimenopause & Menopause

This transition can bring a wide range of symptoms, from brain fog and anxiety to sleep disruption, weight gain, fatigue, and changes in mood or libido. Nutritional therapy offers a supportive foundation during this phase, helping to ease symptoms, stabilise energy, and protect long-term health. Richa also uses hormone therapy where appropriate and always aims to integrate adrenal, thyroid and metabolic support into the wider picture.

Gut Health

Gut health is fundamental to hormonal balance, immunity, nutrient absorption and even mental wellbeing. Symptoms like bloating, IBS, reflux, or constipation can be linked to deeper dysfunction – whether that’s microbiome imbalances, gut permeability (“leaky gut”), low stomach acid, or food sensitivities. Richa uses a combination of nutrition, lifestyle and functional testing to uncover and address root causes, aiming to restore balance and reduce systemic inflammation.

Weight & Metabolic Health

When weight becomes harder to manage – particularly around perimenopause or in insulin-resistant PCOS – it’s important to look beyond diet and exercise. Richa explores potential contributors such as blood sugar imbalance, thyroid function, stress hormones, inflammation, or underlying gut issues. Support may include blood sugar regulation strategies, stress management, targeted supplements, and, when needed, medication or continuous glucose monitoring.

Other Areas of Support

  • PMS and cyclical symptoms (e.g. anxiety, breast tenderness, headaches)
  • Irregular or missing periods (amenorrhoea)
  • Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)
  • Adult acne, rosacea, and eczema
  • Fatigue, burnout and poor stress resilience
  • Underactive thyroid and subclinical dysfunction
  • Hormonal mood changes and brain fog
  • Vaginal microbiome imbalances, including thrush, BV and recurrent UTIs
  • Heavy, painful, or irregular periods

Functional Testing

In many cases, Richa uses functional testing to gain deeper insight into what’s driving your symptoms. These tests help provide clarity and direction for a truly personalised plan. Common tests include:

  • Hormone panels (e.g. DUTCH test to assess adrenal and sex hormones)
  • Comprehensive gut testing (e.g. GI Map to assess microbiome, inflammation, infections)
  • Blood work (for nutrient status, thyroid function, glucose/insulin markers)
  • Vaginal microbiome testing (for recurrent infections, discharge or odour)
  • Genetic testing (e.g. methylation, detox pathways, oestrogen metabolism)
  • Histamine and food intolerance testing, if symptoms suggest reactivity

These tests are only recommended when clinically relevant and can be discussed as part of your consultation.
