Your Profhilo® Questions Answered By Dr Thu-Linh Nguyen

10 January 2022 by Omniya Clinic

Here at Omniya, we work with some of the finest aesthetic doctors in the world. We were lucky enough to get chance to speak with the highly regarded (and extremely busy!) Dr Thu Linh Nguyen, to ask her some of the most frequently asked questions about one of our most popular treatments – Profhilo®.

Is Profhilo® A Filler?

Profhilo® is not a filler treatment, it’s a type of skin booster. Profhilo® will trigger your production of elastin and collagen to improve the skin quality.

You can expect an improvement in the firmess of the skin, and in the laxity. You will have firmer skin, you will have more glowing skin, and overall you can also get a bit of lifting effect, because the quality of the skin itself is going to improve.

How Long Does The Treatment Take?

Profhilo® is a very straightforward treatment, we inject five specific points on each side of the face. I would say overall the technical aspect will take ten, fifteen minutes. I personally inject very slowly, to reduce discomfort, because it can sting a little bit. Slow injection will help with that, and reduce the discomfort.

For Profhilo®, it’s ideally a two-session treatment, so you should do one session, and then four weeks after, a second session to get the maximum effect.

How Long Is Recovery, And How Long Do Results Last?

You’ll have little bumps on the skin, like little insect bites, for about four to six hours following the Profhilo® treatment, so there’s a bit of downtime. The next day, they should not be visible anymore, but you may still feel them under the skin when you apply your skincare.

If we treat the neck, however, the bumps may be visible for a bit longer, so do expect more downtime for the neck.

So the results will last, I would say, for about six months. It would be good to do a two-session course of Profhilo® twice a year. This is just to remind your skin, actually, to repair itself and to rejuvenate itself.

Who Would You Recommend This Treatment For?

Profhilo® can be done at all ages, to be honest. It’s a skin booster, but I love doing it for my patients around menopause, because around menopause your hormone level will change, and the quality of your skin will change a lot so you can do a course of Profhilo® to help boost your skin.

Actually, for a woman around menopause, I sometimes advise a course of three – so four weeks after the second session, you can do a third session.

For Dermal Fillers, Botox, And Profhilo®, Do Your Results Look Natural? We Ask For Anyone Worried About Looking Fake.

So for me, looking fake is just the result of bad treatment. Good treatment should look natural. Nobody should really notice that you’ve had anything done to your face, but you should look fresher and rested, and your natural beauty traits should be enhanced, rather than your face being completely transformed.
