Hormone replacement therapy function

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormones have a very important function in your body. They influence your immune system, metabolism, growth, fertility and even behaviour. We naturally lose hormones as we get older, but this can have a detrimental effect on our moods, behaviour and health. One of the most common times to experience a huge swing in your hormones is during the menopause; but you may also experience a deficiency in hormones for other reasons too.

When this occurs, hormone replacement therapy from our clinic in Chelsea, close to Knightsbridge and Mayfair, can restore your mood, health and sense of physical and mental well-being. How do you know if you’re experiencing a change in hormones?

There are a number of symptoms that are associated with a loss of key hormones. These include weight fluctuations, trouble sleeping, mood swings, depression, headaches, joint aches, dry skin, as well as depression and anxiety, among others.

Should you have any of these symptoms, or suspect you have a problem concerning hormones, why not pay a visit to our doctor led team? Should we suspect you need a another doctor’s referral, we can provide that, but should hormone replacement therapy be a possible solution, we will be able to advise you on how the treatment works, how it will be administered and how soon you should see results, as well as how you can expect these results to manifest themselves.

The key aim of hormone replacement therapy is to balance the endocrine system. We can do that by assessing which hormones you’re deficient in; and providing you with a replacement to sort out that shortfall.

To give you an example of which hormones control what, oestrogen is great for hair and skin while progesterone controls mood and quality of sleep. Testosterone is for your libido and energy levels while DHEA can improve your mood and memory.

This has all been simplified for the purposes of this blog post, but when you visit us for your consultation, we’ll ensure you get all the information you need to make a decision about your treatment from a fully informed point of view.

Please don’t underestimate the effects your mood, or lack of sleep, can have on your mental health. Hormones can transform how you feel. Please get in touch with our team here in Chelsea for more information.
